5 Things You Might Not Know About Me

Recently Nicole from Tea For Me Please posted a '5 Things You Might Not Know About Me' post, and asked bloggers to jump in and do the same. I noticed Anna The Tea Squirrel posted one as well, and I thought it would be fun to introduce myself on a more personal level. I am always curious to learn the interests of others, so I figured I'd start by sharing mine. You know I love tea, but here are 5 things that you may not know about me, in no particular order...

Art And Museums
I love museums and art- My 'happy place' is sitting in a quiet museum, contemplating. I studied art history in college (among other things), and I'm glad to live so close to many galleries and museums. I grew up being schlepped to art gallery events at an early age and was exposed to special museum exhibits every few weeks. My father is an artist, and I've inherited his love for art. My favorite art periods are Post-Impressionism, the Bauhaus Movement, and Abstract Expressionism. I also love photography and ceramics. My interest in photography is expressed in the photos I take for Instagram and the blog. And one of these days I'd like to start taking ceramics classes.

I'd Rather Be Writing...
One of my favorite things to do is write (not much of a surprise, huh?). To be honest, I'm an awful conversationalist, and much better at expressing myself through writing. I may not be very good at starting up a conversation, but give me a pen or a keyboard and the words will start flowing. I've journaled and written short stories since I was a kid, and I have a particular children's story about tea that has been bouncing around my brain for many years. I'm trying to finally get it down on paper.

...Or Reading
If I'm not writing, you'll find me reading something. I've always been a voracious reader, and even though working and taking care of the kids keeps me busy, I still try to squeeze in time to read. I love fiction, Sci Fi, and anything that involves history. Of course I'll also read any tea book I can find. If I have my choice of activity, I'll usually pick reading.

Just Give Me All The Food
Tea and food go hand in hand, so it makes sense that I'm a 'foodie'. I hate that term, but it's what I am. I love seeking out food adventures. I'm fortunate to live in NYC, and my family and I will drive all over the boroughs to find the best and most interesting things to eat. My husband and children are also adventurous eaters, and we're always talking about where to go on the weekends. I usually cook dinner during the week, but weekends are for adventures! My husband and I try to also visit as many new restaurants as we can, when feasible.

I Need To Be Active
I feel best when I keep my body moving. I've done everything from distance running (my knees can't take it anymore!), to fencing, to yoga. These days pilates on the reformer is my exercise of choice, but I also recently rediscovered yoga. I shied away from it after a major yoga-related injury many years ago, but after jumping back in I can't live without it. I'm not one of those people that do it for the meditation or relaxation, although that's a nice benefit. I'm more interested in how it strengthens and stretches the body. I just feel so much better after a proper workout. I feel more like myself.

Ok readers and tea blogging friends! It's your turn to share. Thanks Nicole for starting such a fun blog topic!
